Woke Mama: Cara

Want to know WTF a Woke Mama is? Each week, we’re introducing awesome women who are making the world a kinder place, one happy baby at a time.

Name: Cara

Age: 31

Babies: Keean 10, Kayden 6, Kylan 3, Rocco 2 months

What does being a woke mama mean to you?:

Similar parenting style, support

What made you choose gentle parenting? And what is your favourite aspect of it?:

It’s what makes sense to me.
Most awesome moment so far?:

Having my 4 boys
Biggest struggle so far? How do you cope with stressful moments?:

3 year olds! Very headstrong! I cope by taking a step back, trying to see the reason for the displayed behaviour.

If going back to/at work, how will/do you juggle with gentle parenting? :

We have always cared for our children ourselves. No childcare bar school. We work out jobs around our children. Not always the best jobs, status wise, as in society, but it works for us and our boys.

Any advice you would give to new mums?:

Don’t read parenting books esp those telling you to leave your baby to cry, don’t give up, trust your instincts, don’t listen to anyone who says “well I did xyz and my children are alright” and anyone who uses the phrase fed is best 😷 awful advice.

What’s on your soundtrack to your first year of being a Woke Mama?:

I need to get me one of those!!!

Like what ya see? We’ll be introducing more awesome Woke Mamas. But we want to hear from YOU. Share your stories on social media using #WokeMamas or write your answers here. ❤
