Want to know WTF a Woke Mama is? Each week, we’re introducing awesome women who are making the world a kinder place, one happy baby at a time.
Name & age: Misha, 32
Kids: Cairo, 7 and Ava Rae, 3
What does being a woke mama mean to you?
Providing my children with different experiences through food, travel, books, play, ways of doing things, education and learning.
Showing my children that they can become whatever they want and opening their eyes to all the wonders that await them as well as the realities of the world too. (All in good time, they are still little).
Most awesome moment so far?
Wachting them grow into little people and developing their own characters
Biggest struggle so far? How do you cope with stressful moments?
Sleep deprivation and juggling all that comes with motherhood.
How do you juggle work with gentle parenting?
It’s tough but work life balance is a must. I take 20 mins for myself every day, usually when the kids are asleep to paint my nails or have a cup of tea in silence, listen to music or read.
It helps me to refocus and not become overwhelmed. It is as important to me as eating. If mum isn’t happy no one is.
Any advice you would give to new mums?
Take each day as it comes, don’t sweat the small stuff. You know your baby best so don’t let anyone tell you how to raise your child.
Take opinions on board but do with them what you will. You will find your own way of doing things.
What’s on your soundtrack to your first year of being a Woke Mama?
When I was in my first year of being a mama is was Superwoman by Alicia Keys.
