We’re slowly coming out of it looking like Beetle Juice, so we’re still suffering. We’ve got dark circles around our eyes and chapped lips but do you know what? I highly recommend it. . If you want to shed all those extra pounds from 2018 or you’re looking to lose that stubborn postnatal belly you’ve been trying to shift for years then clear out your calendar for a week, get infected by this Armageddon flu, plus strengthen your baby’s immune system along the way. Winning! . In Berlin I met a lot of parents who actively wanted their babies to catch as many cold viruses as possible. One mum threw a viral baby party to build up her baby’s immunity. With over 200 common cold viruses out there, i guess it’s best to get the ball rolling early on . If you want to feel glam under the influence of the flu virus, then ride that loss of appetite pony like John Wayne by going on a Hollywood juicing fast too. Down blends of celery, spinach, ginger, cucumber, turmeric, garlic, kale, avocado, Manuka honey (UMF Certified) for breakfast, lunch and dinner :-) . Its equivalent to Nicole Kidman’s pre-award weight loss plan but without having to fly to LA and pay a fortune for it. . So now back to the REALITY of managing a toddler on day 6 of a killer flu: We’re practically in quarantine, bedridden, we both have Rottweiler barking coughs. 💔 RG @lobellaloves_jo ⚠️ TRIGGER WARNING ⚠️ These statistics from the 2018 MBRRACE study are shocking but sadly not new. Maternal suicide is the fifth most common cause of women’s deaths during pregnancy, but is currently (and has been for some time) THE leading cause of death of mums with an under one year old in the UK. This is as shocking as it is heartbreaking, especially with greater awareness of the importance of mental health during pregnancy and in the first year after birth. But still it’s hard to see in the cold light of day, it’s hard to face as I was almost part of this statisitc. It’s hard as there is still a long way to go in recognising symptoms, supporting women with mental health problems and providing access to specialist perinatal mental health care. It’s hard as so many of these deaths are preventable with early detection and support. It’s hard. It’s hard but lets not give up, it’s hard but let’s try and change this together. Check on your friends. Reach out. Ask twice. If you, a loved one or a friend feels overwhelmed or like they need help, go see your GP. You’re allowed to find this hard. And remember if you need more urgent care: call the Samaritans, call 999 or go to A&E.
