A woke dad?! Wtf! This week as part of our #MindfulParent mini series with @hereforyouforthem we feature @yogadaduk - who wants more men and kids to get into yoga for the good of, well, everyone. 🌱 Hit the link in our bio for the full interview & check out his easy mindfulness toolbox here: . 1. When you feel stress, do anything you can find to alleviate that stress, whether a walk in the park or Yoga to cancel that stress and reflect more on the positives. . 2. Check in with yourself: “How do I actually feel physically and mentally at this time? And what can I do to feel better?” Just taking five breaths can make a huge difference. . 3. Daily activities like standing at the sink washing dishes, or brushing your teeth provides bite-sized opportunities to stand in various poses like Tree Pose or Mountain Pose that will help you to stand strong and focus. . 4. Doing Yoga with your kids is super because while they may not doing a “proper” Down Dog or Tree Pose, they are moving, exploring freedom and learning the importance of breathing. . 5. No matter where you are in your journey, don’t focus on what you can’t do or what you’re not doing. Instead, try thinking of Rob’s words: “We’re all different, and the days may even be different with energy levels, injuries, etc., and it’s ok. We’re all here on a journey! The most important step is the first step in the journey.” . 6. You can focus on yourself. You can take a step back to reflect, and focus on things you need to do to make you feel better. . The way we choose to parent - responsive, gentle and 100% present - doesn't fit so well with western capitalist society. Basically having kids and a job SUCKS. 💔 Your "free" time and energy levels hit zero, so your parenting game feels like it does too. But that's where that mysterious village can step in to help raise your clan. They're real, promise. 👭🏿👭🏽 Don't be afraid to ask your family, friends and community to help you. They have a bit of spare time which is nothing to them, but life saving for you. They have 50 swing-kid-in-the-airs which is fun for them, back breaking for you. 🤸‍♀️ They have space to breathe and therefore surplus hugs to dish out, so you can rest and recharge your own love stores. 💔 Don't know about you, but we're finding it hard to sleep at the moment (in the 10 min windows we have between night feeds 🙄). Knowing that the future in both our kids' and OUR lifetimes sits somewhere between Mad Max and The Road is pretty fucking nightmarish. If we had sleep cycles, they'd be dark. . Wana do good today? I know what ur thinking tho.. there are so many charities out there it can seem overwhelming when you want to give a bit extra. But this one is a no brainer for me - and probably for anyone who has kids. . Last year one of my best mates, Karl, suddenly lost his healthy, active, beautiful 3-year-old goddaughter Grace to mitochondrial disease.
